The year 7 boys rugby team played in the Ribble Valley friendly on Monday the 3rd, returning undefeated. A draw against St. Augustines and Clitheroe Grammar and wins against QEGS and Our Ladies. We have entered two teams into the Burnley Championships on the 10th March at Burnley Rubgy club.

Girls' Rugby

A little piece of history was made on Friday the 7th of March. The first ever girls rugby game was played at Unity College between Unity College and St. Augustines under 13 sides. With Unity having played in, and qualifying from, the Emerging Schools Competition the previous week we were looking to continue our impressive start in this activity.

Having had girls practising regularly at school and club level, the team consisted of newly appointed captain, Macey Durkin, who lead Ellecia Farnworth, Tabetha Burrell, Willow Bell, Alex Crossley-Small, Amelia Waddington, Abbie Lord, Louise Berry, Olivia Johnson, Holly ParkerĀ and Mia Rutherford out for their match.

The game began evenly matched with tries and tackles from boths sides before Unity College settled into their game and running in tries from Amelia Waddington, Ellecia Farnworth, Mia Rutherford and Macey Durkin. The final score 35 - 15 to Unity College.

The U13 and U15 Unity College girls teams now will compete in the area finals of the Emerging Schools competition on the 21st March at Broughton Park, Manchester.

Basketball

This week at Unity College we will compete in the year 7 Burnley Basketball Championships. The year 8 rubgy team will play Clitheroe Grammar School in the Semi-final of the Emerging Schools Plate competition. Both fixtures will take place on Thursday.
