23/1/15

Today has been a day for being above the clouds, viewing the mountains, celebrating success, celebrating Imogen Dewhurst's birthday, shopping and packing.  Everyone has been levelled with international skiing proficiency levels, some have even been awarded special certificates from Unity staff.  Snow king and queen, most improved, speed demon, best beginner, best dancer, Mighty Mouse and life and sole of the ski have received their accolades tonight.
Well we are up at 5am to start our journey back..to snow we believe.  Everyone will appreciate their favourite meal when they get home...get cooking!!!
See you soon.

What a fantastic sunny day today.  Lots of panda eyes are emerging through sun tanned faces.  Karaoke and pizza night was huge fun, Karl and Ross entertained us well with all skiers joining with staff in a rendition of 'we are the champions', all dancing joining hands aw.  This followed bum boarding...yeeks I'm surprised there aren't any sore bones this morning.
Tonight our skiers will dance the night away at our very own disco, once we can extract the boys from the pool table who are determined to beat the male staff.
Ski muppet vest and hat has been worn today by Rowan Greenwood for getting his head stuck in the bunk beds after breakfast.  He was released by the hotel management and Mr Boardman.
His ears might recover in time....only joking, he is fine.
Connor T wants to tell the world that today he hasn't fallen over.

Last day tomorrow before the long journey home.

21/9/15

Just when we think that all energy has been used up during the day how wrong we could be.  Racing up the piste with a piece of plastic in hand, sitting on it and crashing into a snow bank has been the itinerary of the evening.  What a whole lot of fun and laughter and probably sore bones in the morning.  Next up is karaoke....Simon cowell has just arrived!

Lunch was a humongous jacket potato with chilli, beans, cheese and tuna.  Dinner was chicken breast with honey and mustard, veg and rice followed by lemon tarte.  Pizza for supper.

The sun has shone all day long and we have skied through diamond and glitter snow..perfect.

20/9/15

Hello from an even snowyer Alpe D Huez.  Again it has snowed for 24 hours and the visibility today on the slopes was poor.  Progress has been fantastic, black for the big guns, blue for the others..excellent skiing all round.  Quote of the day was from Jake Blakey...the skiing is "challenging but not scary" what a good thing to describe our experience..music to Unity College ears about learning.  The muppet vest has been seen up and down mountain on Jack Metcalfe for falling off a drag lift but flatly refusing to let go.  It dragged him quite a while and snapped as he arrived in the drop zone.  All that was left was the string that attached it to the cable.  Jack was unhurt we hasten to add.

We have a problem with contacting home, Le Tabac can not get the internet to upload a carte de telephone and an engineer is booked.  Due to this we can not use the public telephone.  We have a plan but it won't happen tonight as we are off to 'vertigo' a 'go ape' type indoor climb and swing.  Bum boarding was postponed until tomorrow night followed by pizza and karaoke.  Karl has been heard practising across the Alpes all day.

Good morning, it is a white out today with snow falling and fortunately no wind.  The top group have been to the top..Pic Blanc...and gunned it down on red runs reaching speeds of 60mph leaving us shaking at the top of the next peek...aggghh.  All are happy with their progress, Crystal is a fantastic teacher.  The other groups are catching up well with most having learned how to master chair lifts and tackling more challenging slopes.  Oh except for Danyal who keeps falling off the button lift.  Lunch time now which for some can't come quick enough...hungry work this skiing malarkey .....

18/01/15 pm

All did well today..well, Mr Gregory  (Adam) said that he had a mishap on 'that button lift that you sit on' ! Well there was his first mistake.  He dusted himself down and kept calm..he is very very tired and aching tonight.  The ski muppet vest and Elmo helmet cover has been awarded to a skier who had to be extracted from a fence..it took 3 men to untangle her..she really does need to learn how to turn.  She does bear the scars, ice and fence scrapes on her chin but only superficial..Chloe Ingham is proud to represent us on the slopes tomorrow.  The forecast is snow all week with sunny intervals.
Our skiers are interacting nicely with skiers from 'The British School of Amsterdam' and 'The British School of Oman'...it is very busy but a great atmosphere.
Happy days, making memories!!
Night night for now.

Well after a good nights sleep it was 'wakey wakey' call at 6.45am, bright eyed and bushy tailed the vast majority headed off for the slopes in the bucket lift.  It went very smoothly due to our  young skiers being well organised.  Sat back in the hotel is poor Tommy Stott who is now in a cast for the next ten days...you are quite right for thinking..how can this be? They haven't skied yet...it wasn't the piste that got Tommy but the stairs.  He has now been appointed as our après ski rep and as such will help organise our evening events, he has even been issued with a 'Skibound' staff jacket.
The sun is shining brightly illuminating the fallen snow that sits gently on all tree branches..it truly is magical...sun lotion on!!  Photos to follow.

Hello Unity..we have arrived safe and well into a very snowy resort.  It hasn't stopped snowing since yesterday and there is snow sign of it stopping as yet woo hoo.  We had a fab journey and have just had a fresh salad and soup lunch.  All is well, everyone is happy, tired but happy.
