Girls rugby at Unity College

Girls rugby

Eighteen Year 7 and 8 girls from Unity College attended apitch and play event at Burnley Rugby Club on Friday 4th October. The aim of the event was to help the girls to improve and learn rugby skills such as passing, receiving, evasion and tackling. The Unity girls were so good that a full tackling game was played by the end of the session.

Joining the girls were Polly Bell, Year 10, who has recently been selected to play for the Lancashire U15 Squad, and Ellecia Farnworth, Year8, who was selected for the Lancashire Girls Rugby development squad. Mr Williams, the girls’ coach and Teacher of PE at Unity College, is extremely pleased to have two Unity girls successfully gain places in the Lancashire squad. “Rugby continues to go from strength to strength here at Unity. I hope that some of the girls who attended the pitch and play session today will also be selected to play for Lancashire in the near future.”
