Unity College Year 7's had their first taste of competitive rugby on Friday 20th September, booking into a 'pitch and play' session at Burnley Rugby Club.

Once again Unity were the only team to be on the list but Blessed Trinity turned up for the event as well, making the session a little more competitive. Both teams practiced some passing and wrestling skills before being sorted into two teams per school to play a friendly match.

On Monday 23rd the boys played at Blackburn Rugby Club. Morgan Williams, Year 7 Rugby Team Captain writes:

"Today was brilliant especially since we had half the team missing. Max was brilliant. As soon as the ball came out of the scrum he was gone. Max scored two trys. We also have some new players who have joined the team, one of which is Shane who was making brilliant tackles going for the legs every time. AlsoTJ was good. He took the biggest boy on the pitch down. We played two games. We played Clitheroe Grammar and the score was 5-5 and St Augustines the score was 15-10 to them. Well done year 7's!"

Training continues for boys and girls (year 7 - 9) on Tuesdays after school and we have a brand new scrum machine to help us develop scrummaging and rucking techniques.
