Remember Remember -

Stay Safe on the 5th November

Did you know?

Nearly 22% of all firework injuries happen to young people aged 13 to 17.

Rockets, Air Bombs and Sparklers cause the most firework injuries every year.

We want you to enjoy Bonfire Night but we also want you to return to Unity safely on Monday morning so please read these safety tips.

Firework Safety

  • The Royal Society for the prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) advise that only adults should deal with fireworks and that children should watch from a safe distance.
  • Sparklers SHOULD NOT be given to children under 5 years of age.
  • Adults using fireworks should follow the Firework Code.
  • Pets get very frightened by fireworks, so keep all your pets indoors and close all the curtains.
Sparkler Safety Tips
  • Never put them in your pocket
  • Make sure an adult is always present
  • Light them one at a time
  • Wear gloves
  • Hold them at arm's length
  • When it goes out put the hot end in a bucket of water. Otherwise it could still burn you.
