Rugby Update Rugby Update

Unity College took part in the first ever U13 girls emerging schools rugby tournament at Blackburn on Thursday 27th February. The Burnley area supplied two out of the three teams with a strong Blessed Trinity side also taking part.

Unity College came out with two wins and two losses. We narrowly missed out in the first game against Ormskirk girls with the match finishing 4 tries to 3 in favour of the Ormskirk side, a few first game jitters affecting both teams. We then played Blessed Trinity who came out on top with their 3 Lancashire players supported by a strong group of players comming out 4 tries to our 1.

The Unity College girls showed excellent resilliance and commitment once they came through these first games and settled into some fantastic play. The tackling and support play were excellent in the final 2 games (all teams played each other twice). In our second games we managed to score 6 against Ormskirk and conceded none, and Blessed Trinity, who rested their Lancashire players, we came out 4 tried to nil on top.

Mr. Williams was extremely proud of all the ladies who took part, their dedication and commitment were second to none. The U15 girls competition will take place in the next few weeks and if they play like the U13 they will enjoy themselves.
